The MLK (Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.) Weekend of Service (January 15 - 18), Day of Service (January 18), and MLK 40 Days of Peace (through February 28) exists to empower individuals, strengthen communities, bridge barriers, address social problems, and move us closer to Dr. King’s vision of a “Beloved Community” where love and trust will triumph over fear and hatred.
Let’s Work it Out, Not Fight it Out!
“Everyone can be great because everybody can serve." MLK
The Beloved Community includes the reconciliation of adversaries cooperating together in a spirit of friendship and goodwill. The Beloved Community creates new values, truths, relationships, and infrastructures as the foundation for a new society that is thriving, resilient, and caring for everyone’s well-being and belonging.
MLK said: "The aftermath of violence is bitterness. The aftermath of non-violence is the creation of Beloved Community, so that when the battle is over, a new relationship comes into being. The end is reconciliation. The end is redemption. This is the love that may well be the salvation of our civilization."
This event is a four-day free weekend online convergence with opening and closing ceremonies and prayers offered by the Global Centre of Indigenous Sciences and Ancestral Wisdom.
On each of the four days, there will be Convergence Rooms with Presentations as well as an Open Space with self-organized sessions on Monday.
There will also be a Closing Ceremony and “after-party” on Monday.
You are welcome to attend as much as you'd like to.
The Beloved Community vision is of a world in which all people share in the wealth of the earth, where poverty, hunger and homelessness will not be tolerated, and where racism and all forms of discrimination, bigotry, and prejudice will be replaced by a spirit of love and connection.
