The first snow is always magical, but this one is out of this world! I wake up this morning at The Sanctuary, and this is what I saw when I opened my eyes... Winter magic...
As we witness some deep darkness in the world or go through a difficult time in our life, it is very important to remember what Albert Camus said, "In the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, an invincible summer."
So what do you do every day to cultivate this summer inside? I wanted to share my thoughts and my practice with you, to help you go through those dark times. And offer you 5 tips to change your perspective in times of Darkness!
Winters are not cold, silent and dead.
NOT COLD. There is warmth inside those trees, who are going deep in their roots to recharge and to connect more with their mother.
NOT SILENT. What seems silent to our ears is, in fact, hiding a loud conversation of the roots, mycelium, and soil bacterial life, very active to nourish the roots of those trees. I heard too that Mother Earth is giving instructions to those trees and that they inform her of what they saw up there during the summer...
NOT DEAD. What seems like death, leaves falling, is just a change of Worlds, and change in perspective. Those leaves are food for the soil life. And anyway what would be the value of life if there was no Death...?
Winter and fall are the deep inhale of the trees and plants, to prepare for the powerful exhale of spring and summer.
Winter and fall are a call to go inward and see the places inside us which need tender love and care.
Winter and fall are the joy of the harvest, looking back at what grew or not in our lives from the last season of planting.
Winter and fall are the time to go to our most sacred Sanctuary. That deep longing call towards our heart, the call to that sacred place which beats our heart and move our breath. It's a call to sit quietly and in peace inside the sanctuary of our own body, our own breath.
